Intra  Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) treatment is a micromanipulation technique that has revolutionized the treatment of severe male factor infertility. Developed in 1994 at UCSF, ICSI has since become a widely adopted procedure for couples struggling with fertilization issues. It is also used in the cases of previously failed attempts of IVF. It helps build hope in couples with successful pregnancy.

ICSI is performed using an inverted microscope equipped with micro-manipulators and micro-injectors. This technique involves injecting a single sperm directly into an egg using a specialized microinjecting pipette.Accompanying ICSI. These ICSI treatments are undertaken for males having crucially low sperm count due to problems in sperm production or any blockages in the reproduction tract. Such issues can occur due to vasectomy, congenital absence of vas deferens,Y-chromosome microdeletion, infections or environmental causes.

In some cases, PESA (Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration) and TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration) are procedures employed to retrieve sperm in cases of obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermia.

To ensure that no stone is left unturned in the success of sperm retrieval procedures, we collaborate with a urologist specialized in male infertility. The urologist performs tests, including blood work and testicular biopsy, to determine the most appropriate procedure likely to yield sperm. PESA is usually conducted on the morning of egg retrieval, while TESA may be performed a day prior to allow for in vitro maturation of immature sperm.

PESA is performed with the use of local anesthesia and by inserting a fine needle into the epididymis, the reservoir of sperm located on top of each testicle. TESA involves obtaining sperm through a testicular biopsy. The sperm then produced can directly injected into the egg
